A castle likley established at the end of the 13th century; mentioned in accounts dating to 1318 as Zunberg, subsequently rebuilt, and then abandoned during the 18th century. Preserved today are striking ruins of the walls and palace; part of the castle was destroyed by the construction of a regional water tower. The castle is surrounded by remains of a moat. With the exception of the steep west side the castle is fortified by a moat and partially by ramparts. A secret corridor runs from the northern moat to the cellars.
